Biography

Clay Collins, has many years experience as a musician, singer and producer. Clay was a graduate of the National Guild of Pianists and Teachers in 1988.  Clay got his degree in Music Business at West Texas A&M University.  In 1999, Clay moved to New York City to join the production team for an original theatrical project “Praise|Motion” as musical director as a writer, arranger and singer. Within the project, he co-produced Praise|Motion, Volume 1 (1999) a cast album from the off Broadway production at the historic Lamb’s Theater in Times Square. In 2006 he co-wrote an original off Broadway Musical “Follow Me” which included a commercial release cast album. In 2009 Clay, along with Walker Beach (Gateway Church) co-wrote an original musical adaptation of “A Christmas Carol.” Clay was also the arranger and orchestrator. Since then He has been involved with several productions and ministries at Gateway Church including the commercial CD/DVD release God Be Praised and Great Great God. He is also featured on the the recording project “Beyond Vol. 1” released by Valley Creek Church of which he is an active member.

Clay has over 20 years experience in the practical field of music and production as well as teaching.  He has a real world practical perspective that is invaluable to the students he teaches.

Clay is married to Beth and has 4 children, Grant – 20 (step-son), Brooke – 18 (step-daughter) and 4 year old twin girls Addy and Tori.

Clay started to play the piano at the age of 6 and have a lifetime of experience in Playing, Singing, Audio Recording and Production and well as Songwriting and arranging.  Clay’s mix of technical knowledge as well as practical experience gives him an edge when he teaches.  He is able to direct his students to develop musically to accomplish their dreams and goals.

Honors & Awards

Graduate of the National Guild of Pianists and Teachers (1990)
A 10 year program where students master and perform annual recitals.  It is a rare honor to complete this program as only 10 on average people graduation a year worldwide.

Graduate of West Texas A&M University (1998)
Clay graduated with a degree in Music Business.  At WTAMU clay studied vocal performance with a minor in business.

A Musical Adaptation of “A Christmas Carol”
In 2009 Clay co-wrote, orchestrated and conducted the music for this groundbreaking Gateway Church musical in Southlake TX.  There were over 8 thousand people in attendance.
